World Health Day (WHD), was held every year on 7 April, which marks the anniversary of the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1948 and each year it focuses on a specific public health concern. This year the focus was on the journey to achieving Health for All.

College of Nursing, College of Medicine, and Department of Physiotherapy from College of Health Sciences, collaborated to conduct an interprofessional community engagement activity at Dulsco Company, Dubai, on Friday, 5th of May, 2023. The event aimed to provide physical and mental health awareness, offer blood pressure (BP) measurement services, and musculoskeletal health awareness education. The initiative demonstrated the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to healthcare and the impact of collaborative efforts on overall employee well-being.

The program was attended by 100 employees. The students from the three colleges checked all the participant’s Height, Weight, and blood pressure. They were guided by Prof. Shatha Saeed, Professor & Head of Community Medicine Department, Dr. Jayakumari Muttappallymyalil, Dr. Soma Ibrahim Ali, Dr. Sukumar Solomon and Dr. Anusha Sreejith.

A mental health awareness session was conducted by Dr. Soma Ibrahim, Assistant Professor- Mental Health Nursing, on Promoting Positive Mental Health on Workplace. Following the session, individual counseling sessions were provided for employees who had inquiries or sought further guidance.

All the employees were screened for musculoskeletal problems and treated with musculoskeletal health awareness education and appropriate physiotherapy treatments under the guidance of Dr. Sukumar Shanmugam, Assistant Professor (Neurological and Psychosomatic Disorders).
