International Nurses Day Celebration 2022

The International Nurses Day (IND) 2022 was celebrated on May 11th between 3.30-4.30 pm at Gulf Medical University. In an effort to initiate a novel venture of bringing every Nursing group under GMU & Thumbay hospitals & clinics together under one platform, the CoN invited all its students and staff from various Thumbay group of Hospitals with its Faculty and Administrators from the University & Hospitals for the day’s event. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mrs. Shaikhah Mohamed Al Zahmi, Head Section of Nursing Policies and Standards, Nursing Department, EHS. The program was graced by the Chancellor, Prof. Hossam Hamdy, Prof. Manda Venkatramana, VCA, Dr. Gurjit Singh Monga, COO, TUH, & Ms. Justina Nancy Mendonca, Group CNO, TUH. It was a moment of pride and honour to celebrate the ‘Academic Health System’ of GMU & Thumbay Groups of Hospitals in its true meaning.

Unveiling of the Theme was by done by the Dean, Prof. Selva Titus Chacko, Nurses a voice to lead. Invest in Nursing, Respect Rights to Secure Global Health. She also enlightened the gathering on the steep growth of the college in the last 2 years. The inaugural address was given by Prof. Hossam Hamdy, Chancellor, GMU, who appreciated the growth of the Nursing College under the leadership of the Dean, Prof. Selva Titus Chacko.

Chief Guest Mrs. Shaikhah Mohamed Al Zahmi, Head Section of Nursing Policies and Standards, Nursing Department, EHS, addressed the gathering, gave insights about Nursing department EHS, gave an inspiring message to the group and motivated students to join EHS.

Having a ‘Newsletter’ of its own is a pride for the College of Nursing & the Student Nurses Club “Inspire Us”; which was released by our Chancellor Prof. Hossam Hamdy, The Newsletter is a initially expected to be released quarterly. Student Nurse Club Newsletter – “Inspire Us”

The SNC had organized a Painting program based on the theme of this year’s IND to encourage students to exhibit their talents. Certificates were awarded by Prof. Manda Venkatramana, VCA, GMU in appreciation of those who actively participated in the International Nurses Day Program.

Ms. Jan Erin Mamuad Soriao 2nd Semester BSN Student, entertained the audience with a melodious song. The program concluded with the cutting of the cake by the Chief Guest, accompanied by dignitaries and SNC Executive members.

The International Nurses day Program was a grand success and certainly a milestone in the History of College of Nursing at Gulf Medical University.
