GMU Research Day 2024

The Thumbay Research Institute for Precision Medicine (TRIPM) at Gulf Medical University organized the Annual GMU Research Day 2024 on 2nd and 3rd May 2024.

Professor Hossam Hamdy, Chancellor GMU, delivered the welcomed address. Professor Salem Chouaib, Director of TRIPM, Vice Chancellor for Research, GMU gave the Introductory remarks on the significance of GMU Research Day Celebration, and the research activities carried out at GMU especially at TRIPM.

The Key Note address was delivered by Prof Përparim Limani, Attending Physician, Department of Surgery and Transplantation, University Hospital Zürich on New combined Therapies in Pancreatic Cancer. Prof Giovanni Volpe, Professor at University of Gothenburg, Sweden delivered a talk on Brain Image Analysis in Cognitive Disorder Using AI and Dr. Joana Braga Pereira, Associate Professor (Docent in Neurosciences), Principal Investigator and Group Leader at the Neuro Division of CNS, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm spoke on Brain Image Analysis in Cognitive Disorder Using AI.

This event witnessed the culmination of research from all colleges at GMU as well clinical research at Thumbay Hospital. A total of 28 research projects were presented by faculty members and 123 posters were displayed which included 09 posters from College of Nursing. The posters presented by the students covered observational and experimental studies conducted at GMU, including TRIPM, research laboratories at different colleges, and the University hospital.

There were three Faculty talks from College of Nursing – Dr. Mary Walton, Dr. Sija Bonoy and Dr. Hosny Sultan and nine poster presentations by the BSN and RNBSN students.

Dr. Beryl Juliet Sam, Assistant Professor from College of Nursing was recognized for her research publications in 2023 and was awarded with a Certificate of Recognition during the valedictory ceremony culminating the research Day celebration. [Certificate of Recognition for Research 2024]
