Gulf Medical University and IFRC (International Federation of Red Cross) in a joint venture conducted awareness session on “First Aid in Emergency Situations” on 3rd February 2024 for 25 workers of Genfocus, Al Jurf Ajman which is a battery manufacturing company. This session was designed to provide hands-on knowledge on vital skills which will enable them to assist in any emergency in the factory campus. The session covered topics like recovery position, cuts and wounds, bone and joint injuries, chemical burns, etc. The participants were provided with the opportunity to practice skills.

The session emphasized hands-on first aid training and targeted enhancement on knowledge and skills, specifically to the workers. Their alertness and prompt reactions can significantly lower the incidence of severe injuries and harm among factory workers.
Dr. Sija Binoy, Trainer of Trainer (ToT) and a faculty member at College of Nursing was a trainer in the session along with Ms. Sandhya Arun, ToT’s. The workers of the factory expressed satisfaction and gratitude for the opportunity to participate in this important session. Factory owner commended GMU’s efforts to educate factory workers/employees on vital topics relevant to their work within the factory premises.
