Professor Salem Chouaib – Laureate of the Nencki Award 2021

Prof. Salem Chouaib, Vice Chancellor of Research and Director of Thumbay Institute for Precision Medicine (TRIPM) at Gulf Medical University has been awarded the Nencki Prize 2021 for his outstanding achievements in cancer research. The announcement of the award came earlier this year on January 25.

The Marceli Nencki Award ceremony together with Nencki Institute Science Picnic was held on 20 May 2022 after a two-year pandemic gap.

The event included a lecture by Professor Salem Chouaib entitled: “Influence of hypoxic stress on anti-tumor cytotoxic response and impact on cancer immunotherapy”.

The Nencki Prize is established by the Scientific Council of the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences to honor outstanding scholars with whom the institute shares years of scientific cooperation.
