Gulf Medical University, Ajman, proudly hosted its prestigious annual Research Day on 15th and 16th May 2025, organised by Translational Research Initiative for Precision Medicine (TRIPM), in collaboration with the various colleges of GMU. This two-day event brought together researchers, faculty and students from across the university serving as a platform for innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the celebration of scientific advancement.

With a record-breaking 137 student research posters on display and numerous faculty members presenting their cutting-edge work, this year’s Research Day marked a significant milestone in GMU’s commitment to nurturing a research-driven academic culture. Notably, this edition also featured presentations by our PhD scholars and select master’s students, who shared insights into their ongoing research, adding a new dimension of academic depth and rigor to the event.

The diversity of research topics presented underscored the university’s multidisciplinary strengths, spanning the fields of medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, healthcare management, and biomedical sciences. This broad spectrum of inquiry provided students, faculty, and visitors with invaluable exposure to emerging trends and groundbreaking discoveries from across all colleges within GMU.

A major highlight of the event was the official announcement of the Thumbay Internation Research Grant, marking its inaugural launch. From an impressive pool of international research project proposals, 15 exceptional projects were selected. These projects will be pursued in collaboration with GMU researchers, significantly enhancing the university’s global research footprint.

Enhancing the significance of the event, this year’s keynote address was delivered by Dr. Arsela Prelaj, Head of AI-ON-Lab at the Istituto Nazionale Tumori in Milan, Italy. Her talk, titled “AI for Cancer Care: From Research to Implementation”, offered profound insights into how artificial intelligence is revolutionizing oncology—from diagnostics to treatment strategies—captivating the audience and sparking conversations on the future of AI in medicine.
GMU Research Day 2025 was not only a resounding success but also a reflection of the university’s unwavering dedication to academic excellence, innovation, and global collaboration. By inspiring the next generation of scientists and clinicians, the event solidified GMU’s status as a leading institution in translational and interdisciplinary research—both regionally and internationally.
