Dr. Iqbal holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, India followed by postdoctoral training at world renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center in the US. Thereafter, Dr. Iqbal was awarded the prestigious INSPIRE Faculty grant and fellowship by Govt. of India to continue his cancer metabolism research in India after returning from the US. While working in India he won the coveted INSA Young Scientist Medal in 2016 (Govt. of India) for his research contributions. Dr. Iqbal’s research focuses on investigating cancer metabolism using integrative systems and hypothesis-driven approaches with the ultimate aim of finding metabolic vulnerabilities of clinical relevance. He has published 20 papers in the field in reputed journals like JBC, FEBS J, Molecular Oncology, Molecular Cancer and developed collaborations with labs in US, Germany and India. Dr. Iqbal has delivered invited talks, showcased his research in several international conferences and earned awards, including 3 consecutive awards at UAE Cancer Congress. Dr. Iqbal has guided PhDs and postdocs and has extensive experience in teaching.
