Dr. Javad Karimbayli

Assistant Professor

Dr. Javad Karimbayli currently is an assistant professor in Thumbay Research Institute of Precision Medicine (TRIPM), Gulf Medical University. Prior to that, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Italian National Cancer Institute, CRO Aviano.  He was trained and gained expertise in cellular imaging, high throughput data analysis and wide range of molecular biology techniques. In 2022, Javad earned his PhD degree in Biomolecular Medicine from Trieste University, Italy, where he investigated molecular mechanisms of chemotherapy resistance in ovarian cancer.

His research focuses on investigating how can cancer cells acquire resistance to systemic and targeted therapies using experimental and bioinformatic approaches with the ultimate aim of finding new actionable vulnerabilities.  His research career for the past 6 years has generated publications in reputable journals like Molecular Cancer, Science Advance, Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy.
