GMU’s Dr. Muhammad Al-Shorbagy Participates in “Transformational Leadership in Health Professions Education” Workshop

On February 2nd and 3rd, 2023, Dr. Muhammad Al-Shorbagy, Associate Dean of Academics at the College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University participated in a two-day workshop on transformational leadership. The workshop was delivered by renowned leaders from Gulf Medical University in the UAE, Riphah International University in Pakistan, and the Center for Learning Innovations and Customized Knowledge Solutions (CLICKS).

The workshop covered a wide range of topics related to transformational leadership in health professions education, including emerging trends in higher education, strategy formulation and managing the unknown, leadership theories and styles, and managing change and leading and motivating people.

Throughout the two days, participants had the opportunity to delve into the complexities of the higher education and health professions education ecosystems and to explore the implications of these complexities on higher education institutions. Additionally, they learned about transformational leadership and how to become an effective leader in the healthcare profession.

Dr. Al-Shorbagy commented: “The workshop enabled participants to expand their knowledge and develop their skills in transformational leadership. The event was well-received, and participants left with a wealth of information and practical tools to help them in their professional careers”.
