On October 10, and 17, 2021 Dr. David Mottram, Emeritus Professor, Liverpool John Moores University, UK delivered educational sessions to GMU College of Pharmacy PharmD students.

Professor Mottram has been involved in the development and delivery of medical and pharmacy services at major sporting events since 2001. He was a member of the Medical Services Group of the Organizing Committee for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games with responsibility for education and training of the pharmacy workforce. He also worked on the medical services team for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Currently, Professor Mottram is a consultant and advisor for the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Testing Agency (ITA) and UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) and has collaborated on the development and delivery of education programs for these and other international organizations.
Educational sessions delivered by Prof. Mottram were part of an elective course “Drugs in Sport” which was launched last year in collaboration with the UAE Antidoping Committee and the UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC).
Prof. Sherief Khalifa, Vice Chancellor for Quality and Global Engagement and Dean of the College of Pharmacy commented “Including a course on Drugs in Sport in the pharmacy curriculum is a reflection of our accountability to a special population (the athletes) who need special attention and care from professional pharmacists. The College is working with UAE Antidoping Agency for education and research in the area of Sports Pharmacy”.
