PharmD Students Win Second Best Display Pharmacy Student Poster Award at 28th Dubai International Pharmaceutical & Technologies Conference & Exhibition – DUPHAT

A group of undergraduate PharmD students from the College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University made a strong showing at the 28th Dubai International Pharmaceutical & Technologies Conference & Exhibition (DUPHAT), winning the 2nd Best Display Pharmacy Student Poster Award.

Held between January 10-12 at the World Trade Center in Dubai, the conference brought together over 400 poster presenters from more than 50 universities, making for a highly competitive environment. The College of Pharmacy team of students consisting of Bilal Nemmar, Ibrahim Mustafa, Aisha Muhammed, and Wafaa Laith, was supervised by Dr. Ahmed Thabet and presented their poster titled “Synthesis of novel pyrazole-based compounds as potential anti-cancer agents through the inhibition of tyrosine kinase enzymes”.

DUPHAT is a highly recognized annual international conference and is considered a must-attend event for the pharmaceutical industry in the Middle East and Africa. DUPHAT has played a pivotal role in the pharmaceutical industry of the MENA region over the last 26 years, evolving from a local market-supporting conference and exhibition to the leading regional educational and networking platform for pharma sector leaders. The 3-day event features key scientific sessions, workshops, and specialized sessions covering various segments of the pharmaceutical industry and is specifically designed for pharmacists and pharma industry professionals.

The College of Pharmacy team’s award-winning poster is a testament to the high level of education and research taking place at the college, and the students’ success is a source of pride for both the university and the wider pharma community.
