The College of Pharmacy recently had the pleasure of hosting Prof. Rania Hathout, Head of the Department of Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy at Ain Shams University.
The College and MDD program director welcomed Dr. Hathout’s visit, recognizing the valuable insights and contributions she offered. The meeting and the discussions provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen the program and showcased the commitment of the MDD program to fostering innovation in drug discovery and development.

Professor Rania Hathout, a member of the MDD Advisory Board, brings a wealth of expertise. She holds a Ph.D. in nanotechnology and drug delivery from the University of Bath, UK and obtained a Pharmaceutical Bioinformatics certificate from Uppsala University, Sweden. Dr. Rania is a prominent figure in the field of computational Pharmaceutics, employing artificial intelligence and machine learning methods to model and simulate drug-carrier interactions. Her outstanding contributions have been recognized through numerous awards, including the Best Research Award in Africa by the American Chemical Society in 2020, the Egyptian Excellence Medal in 2017, and the European Science Foundation Award in 2013. Dr. Rania’s remarkable achievements also encompass grants from prestigious institutions such as Lancaster University (UK) and the INNOVINC Foundation (USA), solidifying her position as a distinguished researcher in her field.
