Master of Science in Drug Discovery and Development (MDD) Students Shine at the 2nd Al Ain University International Conference on Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences Through Talks and Posters

The Master of Science in Drug Discovery and Development (MDD) students from the College of Pharmacy actively participated in the 2nd Al Ain University International Conference on Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences and the 3rd Al Ain University Health and Biomedical Postgraduate Symposium, held on January 22-23, 2025, at Al Ain University, Abu Dhabi Campus, UAE.

Under the supervision of CoP faculty, MDD students demonstrated their research expertise through a series of engaging oral and poster presentations.

Oral Presentations:

  • Aya Salim delivered an oral presentation titled “Phytochemical and Biological Investigations of Conocarpus Species Collected from UAE” under the supervision of Dr. Naglaa Saad Ashmawy.
  • Nusaiba A. Babiker (MDD graduate), supervised by Dr. Eman El-Labbad and Dr. Ahmad Thabet presented her project titled “Design, Synthesis, and Biological Evaluation of a Novel Series of Anthranilate Derivatives as Potential Anticancer Agents”.

Poster Presentations:

  • Fathima Shek Katherr presented a poster titled “Exploring Advanced Delivery Systems for Prolonged Local Anesthetic Applications”, supervised by Professor Shery Jacob.
  • Jamila Abdullahi showcased her work on “Preparation and Evaluation of Tadalafil Loaded Nanoemulgel Transdermal Delivery System for the Management of Cold-induced Vasoconstriction: A Potential for Raynaud’s Phenomenon”, also supervised by Professor Shery Jacob.

The event served as an excellent platform for MDD students to present their innovative research to an audience of scholars and professionals, gaining valuable feedback and fostering networking opportunities. Their participation highlighted the caliber of research conducted at GMU’s College of Pharmacy and underscored the pivotal role of the MDD program in advancing pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences.

Through their active involvement, the MDD students continue to showcase the College of Pharmacy’s commitment to research excellence and innovation on regional and global stages.
