Master in Clinical Pharmacy Student at Gulf Medical University Selected for Panel Discussion in the Dubai Medical Research Forum 2025

May Gamal Mohamed, a Master Candidate in the Clinical Pharmacy Program, was honored to take part in the Dubai Research Medical Forum 2025, held on September 12–13 under the support of the Dubai Health Authority. She joined a panel discussion on “Technological Advancements in Clinical Research & Medicine”, where she spoke about the role of technology, particularly artificial intelligence, in pharmacy research and practice advancement. She also highlighted how pharmacy students perceive and engage with Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, stressing the importance of fostering ethical use of AI in education and training. May also delivered a Focus Talk on “Accuracy of Large Language Models (LLMs) in Drug Interactions” reflecting part of her master thesis done under the supervision of Dr. Diana Malaeb. She addressed how misclassification by non-evidence-based AI tools can mislead pharmacists—through both overestimation and underestimation of drug interaction risks—and underscored the critical need for evidence-based validation to ensure patient safety. This forum was a great opportunity to contribute to the dialogue on how AI is reshaping healthcare, while also reinforcing the pharmacist’s role in ensuring that innovation is translated into safe, ethical, and impactful practice.
