On July 10, 2023 Gulf Medical University College of Pharmacy signed a memorandum of understanding with BinSina Pharmacy. The purpose of the MoU was to bring together academia and practice (in the community setting) in a way that we believe will benefit both. BinSina Pharmacy is one of the leading pharmacy chains in UAE. GMU PharmD student receive part of their Introductory and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Training in BinSina. The progressive nature of BinSina and the high quality training of our students led us to move forward in a formal partnership with them.

Joint certificate courses are in the planning between both institutions. We believe that our partnership will advance academia and practice and will eventually serve our patients and the society at large.

Dean Sherief Khalifa commented: “We believe that advancing and expanding the scope of practice in the community setting will serve to change the societal perception of pharmacy as a profession and will help in building a solid trust between the public and the pharmacist. We also believe that pharmacists who constitute a large sector of the healthcare workforce are extremely underutilized. Joining hands between academia and practice will help bridge this gap and find ways to more efficiently utilize our valuable human resources.”
