Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini, Clinical Lecturer, College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University and Critical Care Clinical Pharmacist, Thumbay University Hospital, captivated an international audience of over 700 pharmacists, clinical pharmacists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals with his presentation titled “Safe and Effective Opioids Use in the ICU”. In a webinar that was organized by IVPN Network, Dr. El Ouweini was invited as a speaker along with other 2 critical care pharmacy experts from UAE and Saudi Arabia. During his presentation, Dr. El Ouweini discussed the general principles of pain and management, with a focus on the use of opioids in acute pain among ICU patients. Dr. El Ouweini delved deep into how to dose and monitor opioids in the ICU for safe and effective use in this setting.
