GMU’s Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini Speaks at the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) Webinar

On April 19, 2024, Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini, Clinical Lecturer, College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University and Critical Care Clinical Pharmacist, Thumbay University Hospital was invited as a speaker at the panel discussion titled: “Seizures and Status Epilepticus” organized by the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) – CNS, Emergency Medicine, and Critical Care Practice and Research Networks.

In this interactive panel, Dr. El Ouweini and other panelists discussed with the audience:

  • The role, dosing regimen, and challenges of underdosing with Benzodiazepines in Status Epilepticus
  • How to address shortages of Lorazepam in your institution while managing your patients with Status Epilepticus
  • Key clinical pearls for using the different anti-seizure medications for managing Status Epilepticus
  • The utilization of anti-seizure drug levels in status epilepticus and drug optimization

Dr. El Ouweini is an active member of the ACCP Critical Care PRN where he contributes to live panel discussion, scientific committee member of educational webinars and a co-author of editorial letters and newsletters in the field of critical care pharmacy.
