On August 13, 2022, Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini, Clinical Lecturer at the College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University & Clinical Pharmacist/Preceptor at Thumbay University Hospital, was invited to speak on: “Dyslipidemia Goals: Current Recommendations and Future Directions.”
During his presentation, Dr. El Ouweini discussed on how to evaluate any patient’s 10-years ASCVD risk, design an appropriate therapeutic goal, pharmacotherapy regimen and monitoring plan.

Dr. El Ouweini’s contribution was part of GMU’s College of Pharmacy’s partnership with IVPN to a joint program with Abbott on: Dyslipidemia Adherence Master Class for Pharmacist
The program aims to educate the pharmacists, working in different healthcare settings, about the knowledge and tools needed to optimize the care they provide for patients with dyslipidemia.
Dean Sherief Khalifa commented: “At the College of Pharmacy, we are happy to partner with IVPN and Abbott in advancing pharmacy practice. It is part of our mission not only to advance pharmacy education but also to improve patient care.”
