Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini, Clinical Lecturer and Critical Care Clinical Pharmacist at Gulf Medical University’s College of Pharmacy, was honored to serve as an invited virtual presenter at the Kuwait Pharmaceutical Advancement Conference and Exhibition. His focused workshop, attended by over 50 pharmacists from across Kuwait, explored advanced strategies for pain management in both community and hospital settings.

Titled “Pain at the Counter and the Bedside: A Pharmacist’s Toolkit,” Dr. El Ouweini’s session offered participants a comprehensive framework for understanding and treating diverse pain presentations. Through case-based discussions and interactive polling, attendees learned to:
- Differentiate between acute, chronic, cancer-related, and neuropathic pain
- Embrace a patient-centric approach to individualized pain management
- Implement patient-centered care processes in daily practice
- Apply clinical pearls for effective monitoring and counselling on analgesic therapies
Feedback from participants highlighted the workshop’s practical relevance and Dr. El Ouweini’s engaging teaching style. Pharmacists remarked on the clarity provided around complex pain syndromes and the actionable guidance for improving patient outcomes.
