GMU’s College of Pharmacy Students at the Elite Talks Event: Inspiring Creative Leadership in Healthcare with Dr. Mona Tahlak

On January 30, 2024, students from GMU College of Pharmacy had the opportunity to participate in the Elite Talks Event, organized by the Saeed Ahmad Lootah Charity Foundation. The event took place at Dubai Medical University Hospital and provided a valuable opportunity for students to acquire knowledge, network with professionals in the medical field, and engage in fruitful discussions with students from various colleges across the UAE. The main focus of the event was “Creative Leadership: Challenges and Achievements,” featuring Dr. Mona Tahlak, Chief Medical Officer and Provost of Dubai Health.

Salama Alhammadi commented: “It was a very informative and motivational talk by Dr. Mona Tahlak, who showcased the challenges she faced during her 16 years of studying and training abroad and how she overcame these. She emphasized on how important it is to manage and balance our time, as healthcare students in this generation, effectively between studying, and social life.”

Shahad Tarek commented, “The event featuring Dr. Mona Tahlak, the first Arab woman elected as President of the International Hospital Federation, was a significant occasion for us as students from Gulf Medical University’s College of Pharmacy. Her groundbreaking accomplishments highlighted the crucial role that women play in the medical field.”

Ghina Ayman added, “This event provided a highly motivating experience. Dr. Tahlak emphasized the transformative power of technology in healthcare and addressed the importance of collaboration and support among colleagues in the medical field.”
