On the 22nd of February 2024, GPSA-UAE organized a special awareness campaign at Thumbay University Hospital in honour of World Cancer Day.
This community engagement event aimed to spread awareness about cancer among the general visitors of the university hospital.
GPSA members had prepared informative posters and leaflets which were presented and shared with the visitors for their knowledge. The posters and pamphlets cover all the key information that one needs to know about cancer including general warning signs and symptoms, risk factors, how to reduce risk, etc…
The students have also emphasized the importance of early detection and screening. Ribbons and packaged berries were also given to the visitors for their participation.
This community awareness activity is officially recognized by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) website for World Cancer Day on Map of Activities which showcases different cancer awareness events across the world.
