GMU Pharmacy Student Association (GPSA) successfully hosted an Interprofessional Case Presentation on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), bringing together students from various disciplines to foster collaboration and enhance patient-centered care. The event featured participants from the College of Medicine, College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, and Thumbay College of Management and AI in Healthcare, each contributing unique perspectives on tackling antimicrobial resistance, a growing global health concern. Key participants included Leen Jaghel from the College of Medicine, Mohamed Majdoub from the College of Pharmacy, Layal Eshaq from the Thumbay College of Management and AI in Healthcare, and Arhana Alom from the College of Nursing. Each student provided specialized insights based on their field, demonstrating how interdisciplinary teamwork leads to comprehensive and effective healthcare solutions.

Discussions during the case presentation emphasized the importance of collaboration between medical, pharmaceutical, nursing, and healthcare management professionals in addressing AMR. The event echoed the words of renowned physician and medical educator Dr. William Mayo, who once said, “The best interest of the patient is the only interest to be considered, and in order that the sick may have the benefit of advancing knowledge, union of forces is necessary.” This quote perfectly captures the essence of the case presentation, where different disciplines united to ensure better patient outcomes through shared expertise. By working together, the participants showcased how interprofessional collaboration enhances patient-centered care and improves clinical decision-making. The event was praised for fostering a spirit of teamwork and shared learning, reinforcing the necessity of multidisciplinary efforts in tackling complex healthcare challenges. As healthcare continues to advance, initiatives like this strengthen the ability of future professionals to work in diverse, team-based settings, ensuring better patient outcomes and more innovative solutions to pressing medical issues.
