Between May 2 and May 6, 2024, GMU Pharmacy Students Association (GPSA) Proudly Hosted IPSF EMRO TDC 2024: The platform shapes tomorrow’s well-equipped IPSF trainers. GPSA was honored to be chosen as the prestigious host for the 2nd Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO) Trainers Development Camp (TDC) 2024, that is a flagship event within the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF). The first version of this camp took place in 2017 in Tunisia. This esteemed event is set to bring together the brightest minds from across the region to engage in a journey of knowledge, innovation, and inspiration. The Trainers Development Camp (TDC) aims to develop a sustainable training program for pharmacy and pharmaceutical science students and recent graduates worldwide to enable them to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to conduct and deliver quality trainings. Trainers are able to deliver trainings at IPSF events, such as Leaders in Training (LIT) and workshops held at local events of member associations, Regional Symposia, and World Congress as well as during external events when invited by partner organizations. This TDC version took place at GMU campus and hosted 3 international trainers (from Egypt, Jordan, and Slovenia), and 17 international participants (senior pharmacy students and recent graduates) came from 7 different countries. The opening ceremony featured powerful and inspiring speeches from:
- Muhammad Al-Shorbagy – Dean of College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University
- Ahmad El Ouweini – GPSA Advisor
- Kripa Mathew – IPSF EMRO TDC 2024 Chairperson
- Yifan Zhou – IPSF President
- Sava Otthman M Gharib – IPSF EMRO Chairperson
- Ebtehal Elsayed Omar – IPSF Training Coordinator

During this 5-day training camp, the participants learned through enriching sessions and activities on the following topics: conflict management and leadership, project management, mastering communication skills and the art of visual storytelling, public speaking, emphasizing the importance of confidence, body language, and effective communication. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical insights that can be applied in real-world scenarios, the participants were able to deliver – on the final day of the training camp – a mock training session, applying the skills they had acquired throughout the program.
