GMU Pharmacy Students’ Association (GPSA) as IPSF Delegates at the COP 28

On December 3 2023, GMU Pharmacy Students’ Association (GPSA) Executive Committee served as official delegates of the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF) at the UN Climate Change Conference that is held in the United Arab Emirates (COP 28) Green Zone. As delegates, Ghenwa Ghayad, Kripa Mathew, Nikita Sunil Binu and Soam Nadeem worked to represent the voices of pharmacy students and recent graduates when attending sessions delivered by prominent and influential leaders in health and climate. They had an incredible opportunity to connect with Dr Santino Sevroni, WHO director of Health and Migration after attending a high level panel discussion titled “Climate Change, Migration and Health: A Call for Action to Leave No One Behind”. They were also able to meet Ms. Sarah Neggazi, the IPSF Public Health Chairperson 2023-24. The delegates expressed how this opportunity had exceeded their expectations well as well as gained a new perspective and understanding of the present and future health crisis and how it is connected with climate change.
