‘RxMeet’ is a new 4-week online program started by pharmacy students from Lebanon, UAE, Egypt, and Pakistan. These are also members of IVPN Student Listserv. Among the program leaders, there 4 students from GMU College of Pharmacy. They are: Ruth Alex, Ishaaq Bagnan, Keerthana Selvaraju, and Fathima Alsheikh.

The purpose of RxMeet is to bring together pharmacy students from around the world for virtual meetings and activities that will help them expand their knowledge and build their professional network and reinforce cultural diversity. As believers in the power of generation Z, it is certain that this program will have a positive impact on the innovation in pharmacy by encouraging students to explore challenges, think outside the box, enhance their knowledge, and embrace unconventional and innovative solutions and ideas for the future of patient care. Each session of RxMeet will involve pharmacy students from different universities from all around the world to participate in interactive activities, discussions, and presentations.

2023 RxMeet hosted finely selected 31 pharmacy students from over 12 countries around the world. The theme of 2023 RxMeet program is Medication Safety. The speaker of the year is Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini, Clinical Lecturer, GMU College of Pharmacy and Critical Care Clinical Pharmacist, Preceptor at Thumbay University Hospital. He presented to the participants an online lecture titled: “Medication Safety in Clinical Practice: Best Practices and Strategies.” In his lecture, Dr. Ahmad discussed: Definition of medication safety, Importance of medication safety in clinical practice, Medication Errors and Adverse Events, Types of medication errors, Causes of medication errors, Consequences of medication errors, and the Best Practices for Medication Safety in Hospitals.
