The Gulf Medical University (GMU) Pharmacy Student Association (GPSA) successfully completed its annual elections on campus today, ushering in a new executive committee for the 2025-2026 academic year.

The event opened with a comprehensive presentation of annual reports from the outgoing executive committee. Each officer highlighted key initiatives, community-engagement projects, and academic support activities that shaped the association’s impact over the past year. Their accomplishments included expanded peer-tutoring services, multiple health-awareness campaigns in collaboration with Thumbay University Hospital, and the launch of a new “Research Skills for Undergraduates” workshop series.
Following the reports, members cast their votes to select next year’s leadership team. Balloting was overseen by faculty advisor Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini, Faculty Founder and Advisor of GPSA, to ensure a transparent and fair process. The newly elected officers were announced to enthusiastic applause, expressing their commitment to building on the association’s strong foundation and introducing fresh initiatives aligned with GMU’s mission of community engagement and academic excellence.

In recognition of exemplary service, certificates of appreciation were presented to the Top Three Members of the Year and to outstanding committee chairs whose dedication elevated the association’s profile across campus. The honorees received commemorative certificates from Prof. Muhammed Al-Shorbagy, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, and Dr. Mohamed Abdullatif, Director of the Student Happiness Center, along with Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini.
The ceremony concluded with a group photo featuring both outgoing and incoming executive committee members alongside the attending dignitaries, symbolizing a seamless transition and shared vision for the coming year.
With the new leadership in place, the GMU Pharmacy Student Association is poised to expand its outreach programs, enhance interdisciplinary collaborations, and provide even greater support to its members as they prepare for impactful careers in pharmacy.
