In honour of World No Tobacco Day, the GMU Pharmacy IVPN-Student Club and GMU Pharmacy Students’ Association (GPSA-UAE) jointly organized an inter-professional poster presentation competition, bringing together students from the Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy. The event aimed to raise awareness about tobacco-related health risks while fostering interprofessional collaboration.

Each team comprised students from each participating college, reflecting the spirit of interdisciplinary cooperation. The teams presented posters on key public health topics including the dangers of smoking, the benefits of quitting smoking, and the impacts of vaping. The judging experts consisted of Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini, representing College of Pharmacy; Dr. Ahmed Salama representing College of Dentistry, Dr. Dalia Ali representing Biomedical Sciences Department and Prof. Shatha Al Sharbatti representing College of Medicine. The 9 teams were judged on the basis of scientific accuracy; impact and communication; creativity; topic relevance and presentation delivery.

The event was a powerful demonstration of how collaborative learning can enhance public health advocacy. Students not only deepened their understanding of tobacco-related issues but also strengthened their skills in teamwork, research, and public engagement.
