On Thursday, Oct 28, 2021, thirty academics and healthcare professionals from ten countries in the Middle East participated in the first regional IPE network meeting organized by the Global IPE network and Qatar University Health Interprofessional Education Committee.

During the sessions, The IPE champions discussed the different initiatives to promote IPE within their institutions and countries reflecting on the growing interest in IPE in the region. Dr. Dixon Thomas (Associate Dean Clinical and the chair of the IPE committee in GMU), Dr. Eman El-labbad (Director of the Center of Interprofessional Education Research and Practice at GMU), shared with the attendees the recent practice in GMU related to interprofessional education, research, and practice. IPE is a core domain in the health professions education framework in Gulf Medical University (GMU) since it is an Academic Health System all in one campus.

Dr. Eman El-labbad comments “It is a great initiative to start regional IPE network meetings, sharing experiencing and practice in IPE in our region to graduate a “collaborative Practice -ready” health workforce prepared to respond to local health needs and provide patient- Centered care“.
