The College of Pharmacy hosted a masterclass for the Master of Science in Drug Discovery and Development Program on Wednesday, March 18th. The objectives of the masterclass were:
- Explore the drug discovery and development program
- Highlights about the program and collaborating partners
- Learn about research areas within the MDD program
- Meet the program faculty members
- Ask any questions related to the program
- Explore possible career opportunities for MDD graduates
The session was conducted on GMU campus, and several attendees from different programs attended the session and interacted with the program faculty and current students in the program as well. Students from various colleges and programs of GMU majoring in Pharmacy, Biomedical Sciences, and Health Sciences were among the attendees.

The MDD master’s program is a unique pharmaceutical sciences thesis-based research program offered in collaboration with the College of Pharmacy at the University of Arizona, USA.
This master’s program in Drug Discovery and Development is the newest addition to the college with three main research areas:
- Drug Design and Medicinal Chemistry.
- Pharmacology and Pharmacogenomics.
- Drug Delivery and Targeting.

MDD Program Highlights:
- The program is accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA), Ministry of Education, Higher Education Affairs, UAE.
- The program is offered to graduates of Pharmacy, Biomedical Sciences, Science, and other relevant degree programs.
- Pharmaceutical sciences thesis-based research program offered in collaboration with top-universities in the US and UK including University of Arizona.
- Two-year program with three major research areas including drug design and medicinal chemistry, pharmacology and pharmacogenomics, and drug delivery and targeting.
- State of the art research facilities in areas of drug design, pharmaceutical analysis, pharmaceutics, pharmacology, and pharmacogenomics.
The MDD Program is the recent addition to the College of Pharmacy programs and has been highlighted in the news as one of the country’s unique programs (see the links below).
