The College of Pharmacy is proud to announce the accreditation of its new Master in Clinical Pharmacy (MCP) by the Ministry of Education. With our long-standing expertise in Clinical Pharmacy having the first and only entry-to-practice PharmD program, MCP will serve to further advance the practice of Pharmacy in UAE. Three important points to mention here;
- MCP is more advanced than the PharmD program with higher expectations in relation to learning outcomes. Pharmacotherapy is at an advanced level with higher levels of problem-solving skills.
- The program is in collaboration with Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and Virginia Commonwealth University, USA with teaching contributions by experts from these institutions in addition to GMU expertise.
- An important feature of the program is the specialization in a clinical area; cardiology, infectious diseases, parenteral nutrition, nephrology and for those who are interested in pharmacy management that option is open too.
Thumbay group of hospitals and clinics provide excellent in-house training sites with new Thumbay Hospital at Jurf, Ajman with Pharmacy Automation and extensive Clinical Pharmacy services. In addition, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi is an existing training site for GMU PharmD and MCP students.
The Dean Professor Sherief Khalifa congratulated all faculty for their hard work in developing a truly advanced Master in Clinical Pharmacy program. More information about the MCP program is available on our website; [Link] The first group of students will start the program in October 2018.
