In a recent community engagement activity held on April 10, GMU-IVPN Club pharmacy students took the lead in counseling patients on the proper use of medications during the month of Ramadan. During the holy month of Ramadan, the students recognized the importance of educating patients on how to manage their medications while fasting.

During the event, the students provided patients in Thumbay University Hospital with valuable information on how to take their medications and manage their health while fasting. They emphasized the importance of staying hydrated, taking medications at the right time, and avoiding certain foods and drinks that could interfere with medication effectiveness.
The educational materials prepared for this event was based on an informative webinar that IVPN-Network organized on March 28 that was titled: “Medications in Ramadan: Care Redefined.”

In addition to medication counseling, the pharmacy students also offered general tips on how to make fasting in the month of Ramadan a healthy experience. They discussed the importance of eating a balanced diet and avoiding overeating during the Iftar meal, as well as staying active and getting enough rest.
Patients were appreciative of the pharmacy students’ efforts to engage with their community and provide valuable information to help them stay healthy during the month of Ramadan. The event was a great success, and the pharmacy students demonstrated their commitment to serving their community and promoting health and wellness.
