On April 22, 2025, the GMU-IVPN Student Club, under the College of Pharmacy successfully conducted an engaging and informative webinar titled “Pharmacy to Skincare: Carving Your Path in Dermatology”, featuring Dr. Sahar Haidar Aoun, a distinguished pharmacist, skincare and cosmetology expert, and owner of her own pharmacy.
During the session, Dr. Sahar shared her inspiring professional journey, emphasizing how pharmacists can diversify their careers by stepping into the fields of dermatology and cosmetology. She highlighted the pharmacist’s evolving role in skincare, covering areas such as product formulation, skin condition counseling, and aesthetic consultations.
Dr. Sahar also delved into the growing importance of cosmetology in pharmacy, offering practical advice on certifications, clinical skincare knowledge, and how to build a successful practice that integrates both pharmaceutical care and aesthetic services.
The webinar was highly interactive, with students showing great enthusiasm and asking numerous insightful questions. Discussions covered everything from skin health and cosmetic ingredients to career paths and entrepreneurial strategies in dermatological pharmacy. The successful webinar highlighted the growing opportunities in the field and inspired attendees to pursue their unique paths within pharmacy.
