GMU College of Pharmacy Shines at the Middle East Heart Failure Conference 2025

The College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University proudly participated in the prestigious Middle East Heart Failure Conference 2025, showcasing excellence in research and education. The event provided an invaluable platform for faculty and students to engage with leading experts in cardiology and gain cutting-edge insights into heart failure management.

Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini, Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and a Critical Care Clinical Pharmacist at Thumbay University Hospital, delivered an oral presentation of a research poster titled: “Association of Polypharmacy at Discharge with Hospital Readmission and Worsening Heart Failure in Heart Failure Patients.” This impactful study, conducted in collaboration with Dr. Diana Malaeb, Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice, and Mai Gamal, a GMU Master of Clinical Pharmacy student, was recognized among the top eight moderated abstracts, selected from over 75 submissions. The recognition underscores the College of Pharmacy’s commitment to high-quality, practice-changing research.

In addition, 5th-year PharmD students currently completing their clinical rotations actively participated in the conference. They had the unique opportunity to attend enriching scientific sessions and network with renowned cardiology experts from across the region, further enhancing their clinical and professional development.
