GMU College of Pharmacy Faculty Delivers a Mentorship Session to a Global Audience of Pharmacy Students and Recent Graduates

On July 29th, 2024, GMU-IVPN Student Club organized in partnership with IVPN Student Listserv a live, virtual mentorship session for a global audience of pharmacy students and recent graduates. The 3 mentors who delivered this session were Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini, Clinical Lecturer, College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University and Critical Care Clinical Pharmacist, Thumbay University Hospital, Dr. Shahbaz Mohiuddin, Clinical Lecturer, College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University and Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacist and Head of Clinical Pharmacy Department, Thumbay University Hospital, and Dr. Osama Tabbara, the founding president of IVPN-Network. During this session, the mentors answered the audience’s questions related to developing the skills they need to shape a brighter future career as a pharmacy professional. Examples of the topics covered during this session include:

  • Becoming an excellent candidate for scholarship applications
  • Developing effective strategies for avoiding burnout among pharmacy students and junior pharmacists
  • The differences between getting PharmD vs Master degrees.
  • Building an outstanding portfolio from year 1 pharmacy school.
