From GMU & TTUHSC to the World: Preceptor Development Showcase “Rotation Assessment”

On December 07, 2023, GMU College of Pharmacy organized a session on Rotation Assessment in collaboration with Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy. Preceptor Showcase is a series of six pharmacy preceptor development sessions, Rotation Orientation, Rotation Tasks/Objectives, Student Reflection, Preceptor Feedback, Teamwork, and Rotation Assessment. A systematic selection of topics ensures the necessary competencies for pharmacists. In addition, this series aims to showcase expert regional and international preceptors sharing their experiences on how preceptors can address the core requirements of student experiential learning.

Over 100 participants from multiple countries, especially the Middle East, attended the preceptor showcase 6. Participants included pharmacists from community and hospital settings as well as clinical pharmacists. In addition, pharmacy academicians participated in the session, especially those involved in experiential education.

Prof. Sherief Khalifa, Dean College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University commented; “We are truly grateful to the expert speakers for summarizing their experiences in relation to “rotation assessment” in experiential education. All the sessions were very beneficial and the feedback from pharmacists and preceptors of the audience was amazing. I congratulate those preceptors who participated in all 6 sessions in the series and received their preceptor competence certificates after completion of the comprehensive assessment”.
