On November 18, 2022, a faculty development workshop was conducted by Dr. Doreen Szollosi, Associate Professor & Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, University of Saint Joseph, USA. The workshop focused on “Assessing Pharmacy student critical thinking through writing”.
Dr. Doreen started the session by discussing the importance of creating a teaching and learning environment that supports the integration of critical thinking skills in pharmacy curriculum. Dr. Doreen shared samples of teaching strategies and written assessment elements designed to evaluate PharmD students critical thinking. This was followed by an overview of rubrics developed and utilized by the University Saint Joseph to assess critical thinking. At the end of the session, the faculty participants practiced assessing critical thinking of samples of students written assignment.
