From December 7 – 16, 2020, a group of UAE National Anti-Doping Committee experts (Dr. Faisal Haji, Dr. Ahmed Abdelrahman, Dr. Amr Adel) provided training expertise to GMU PharmD students on practical aspects of Anti-Doping activities in the country. The diverse background expertise of the committee members (Law, Genetics, Medicine, and Pharmacy) enabled them to tackle the doping and anti-doping from all angles and to provide special insights on the subject.
Dean College of Pharmacy, Prof. Sherief Khalifa commented; it is important for pharmacy students to learn about doping and anti-doping in sports. Pharmacists are the health care professional focusing on drugs, their therapeutic as well as harmful effects. Learning directly from UAE National Anti-doping Committee experts provided first-hand expertise in a local context.
