On November 12th, 2022, the College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University welcomed Dr. Shashyendra Singh Gautam, Principal Scientist in the bioanalytical research department at Biocon-Bristol Myers Squibb Research Center (BBRC) in Bangalore, India, as the speaker for a seminar talk on “LC-MS/MS based bioanalytical approaches for the quantitation of small and large molecules.”

During his presentation, Dr. Gautam discussed the benefits of LC-MS/MS as an analytical technique in biomedical research. This highly sensitive and specific method allows researchers to accurately quantify the concentration of small molecules, such as drugs and their metabolites, as well as large molecules, such as proteins and peptides, in a variety of biological samples. “LC-MS/MS is a powerful tool that can help us better understand biological systems and identify new therapies for a range of diseases,” Dr. Gautam said.
The seminar was well attended by faculty members and the MDD students in the College of Pharmacy, who were interested in learning more about the latest developments in bioanalytical research and the role of LC-MS/MS in this field. Dr. Gautam’s talk provided valuable insights into the use of this technique in drug development and other areas of biomedical research.
