On November 7, 2018, Dr. Eman El-labbad, Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt delivered a seminar titled ‘Future prospective on the therapeutic potentials of CO, H 2 S and SO2 gasotransmitters’ as a part of the College of Pharmacy seminar series. The participants were faculty members from College of Pharmacy and other GMU affiliated colleges.
In her presentation, Dr. Eman discussed the future potential therapeutic application of CO, H 2 S and SO 2 gasotransmitters in various pathological conditions like cancer, inflammatory diseases, infectious diseases and cardiovascular diseases. She also presented the recent trends in designing gasotransmitters delivery systems with emphasis on small organic molecules as gasotransmitters releasing molecules. In this context, Dr. Eman shared some insights on the application of ‘Click and release’ strategy in designing SO 2 prodrug with tunable release rate. Dr. Eman concluded her presentation highlighting the main challenges facing the future research studies, and answered various questions raised by the audience.
