College of Pharmacy’s Dr. Muhammad Abdullatif Presents on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Assisted Medical Education

As part of the Health Professions Education Journal Club series at Gulf Medical University, Dr. Muhammad Abdullatif, an Associate Professor of Pharmacology & Toxicology at the College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University, shared an important research paper titled “Performance of ChatGPT on USMLE: Potential for AI-assisted medical education using large language models”.

On May 10th, 2023, Dr. Abdullatif discussed outcomes of ChatGPT, an advanced language model developed by OpenAI, when challenged by the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). During the session, Dr. Abdullatif elaborated on the study’s approaches and findings, which encompassed input questions, coding, and adjudication to test the accuracy, concordance, and valuable insights of ChatGPT’s responses.

Attendees explored the benefits of using AI in medical education, highlighting how ChatGPT can enhance learning outcomes.
