College of Pharmacy Takes Part in GMU “Peer Assisted Learning“

On Wednesday, May 18, 2022, College of Pharmacy, GMU participated in a student certificate course on ‘Peer Assisted Learning (PAL).  The course was designed to provide GMU students with an overview of teaching and learning methods applied in peer Assisted learning. The course consisted of a series of presentations and small groups activities led by Prof.  Hossam Hamdy, Chancellor of Gulf Medical University on Learning theories in peer assisted learning, lesson planning, effective lecturing & feedback and PAL in clinical environment.  Dr. Eman El-labbad, Assistant Professor of Medicinal presented a session on “How to Design a lesson plan for Peer Assisted Learning“. The workshop was great initiative to support GMU students with practical insights on teaching and learning.

Dr. Sherief Khalifa, Dean of the College of Pharmacy commented: “Peer assisted learning is used in the College of Pharmacy as part of the “Together We Rise” program where students learn from each other in courses of the PharmD curriculum that are particularly challenging. This is one of the methods that we use to enhance students’ achievement of program learning outcomes at the point of graduation”.
