College of Pharmacy Career Counseling Seminar on “Pharmacy Career in Regulatory Affairs“

On 6th March 2021, College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University hosted a career counseling session with the title “Pharmacy Career in Regulatory Affairs”. The session was addressed to PharmD students as part of the career talk series in the “Own Your Future” program organized by the college of pharmacy student happiness center.

The session was introduced by Dr. Maiss Ahmad; Regulatory department lead in AKI, one of the top UAE medical distributors, Dr. Maiss is finalizing her PhD degree in business management at the British University in Dubai and her thesis is the health policy analysis discipline.  With her 14 years’ experience across several functions, sales, marketing and regulatory, she has demonstrated how regulatory affairs is situated at the heart of all other functions.

The session has presented outlines about the scope of regulatory affairs career in terms of industry, job description, main responsibilities, and career path, with main focus on the scope that is related to pharmacy graduates. The session has drawn on the regulatory affairs functions to highlight the core skills and capabilities pharmacy graduate must develop to succeed in the regulatory affairs profession. Besides, the session has offered some practical hints about CV/ Interview preparation to apply to RA positions, coupled with academic educational articles and resources.
