College of Pharmacy and Thumbay University Hospital Join hands to improve pharmacy practice and patient outcomes

Education of healthcare professionals is an important role of clinical pharmacy department at Thumbay University Hospital (TUH) in addition to direct patient care and medication safety practices.

On December 19, 2020, Dr. Jumana Al-Salloum, Pharm.D, Clinical Preceptor at College of Pharmacy, GMU & licensed Clinical Pharmacist at TUH delivered an educational session on Enoxaparin injection with focus on the appropriate administration techniques, possible adverse drug reactions, administration timing and further drug-related details. The session was organized after a drug information query and was attended by the nursing staff of TUH.

The clinical pharmacy team at TUH receives daily drug information queries from physicians, nurses, and patients. This highlights the important role of pharmacist as the drug expert on the medical team.
