On November 6, 2024, the College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University held its annual Coffee and Cake celebration, an event dedicated to honoring students with outstanding academic performance “Dean’s List” and those actively engaged in various college committees, council, and programs during the academic year 2023-2024. The celebration was enriched by the presence of chief guest Ms. Burcu Aydin, Director of the Student Affairs Department at Gulf Medical University.
The event commenced with welcoming remarks by Professor Muhammad Al-Shorbagy, Dean of the College of Pharmacy. Professor Al-Shorbagy praised the students’ dedication and accomplishments across different college initiatives, emphasizing the significant impact of their involvement and voice within the College. He encouraged students to take a moment to relish their success, suggesting the idea of renaming the event to “Pause and Applause” in the future as a tribute to their hard work.
Following the Dean’s remarks, certificates were awarded to students on the Dean’s List for both the PharmD, Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) and Diploma in Pharmacy Technician (DPT) programs, recognizing their remarkable academic achievements.
Additionally, the ceremony honored students who demonstrated commitment and leadership within the College through the following roles:
- Members of various College Committees and council.
- Student Members of the Student Happiness Center Programs.
- Executive Committee members of the GMU Pharmacy Students Association (GPSA)
- Executive Committee members of the IVPN/GMU Student Club
Then, the event introduced the newly appointed GPSA and GMU-IVPN Executive Committee members for the 2024-2025 mandate, who shared their enthusiastic vision and goals for the coming academic year.
