Career Counselling on “Pharmacy Education and Training in the USA, Opportunities and Challenges” for GMU Pharmacy Students and Alumni

On November 9, 2021, PharmD and MCP students along with pharmacy alumni attended a career counselling session under the “Own Your Future” Program organized by College of Pharmacy’s Student Happiness Centre. The session was delivered by Dr. Michael Katz, Professor, Dept of Pharmacy Practice & Science, Director of College of Pharmacy International Programs and Residency Programs, University of Arizona. The session was titled:

“Pharmacy Education and Training in the USA, Opportunities and Challenges”

This activity is part of a long-standing partnership between GMU and the University of Arizona. Dr. Michael Katz’s talk shed light on the PharmD education and training model in the USA, licensing pathways for international pharmacy graduates, residency and fellowship requirements, and opportunities for master’s and PhD programs. He also highlighted common challenges faced by international pharmacy graduates pursuing licensure in the USA and how students can approach those challenges if they decide to practice abroad.
