As part of the global exchange program of the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF), of which the GMU Pharmacy Students’ Association (GPSA) is a member organization, Mr. Zidan Rafliansyah, a 3rd year pharmacy student coming from Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia, has spent 3 weeks in Thumbay University Hospital. During these 3 weeks, he rotated in the Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric unit, and other GMU APPE interns. He was trained by Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini, an ICU clinical pharmacist and preceptor for the Critical Care rotation, and Dr. Abir Al Azi, a clinical pharmacist precepting the Pediatric rotation. His 3-week training included daily clinical case discussions, topic discussions, and journal club presentations. Also, the College of Pharmacy (CoP) arranged a tour to Mr. Zidan to explore the current practice at some community pharmacies in Ajman, UAE. At the end of his 3-week internship, Mr. Zidan delivered a presentation to the APPE interns and CoP preceptors and administration, reflecting on his experience during these 3 weeks. These 3 weeks did not only include clinical experience, but also GPSA team arranged some social activities for him to enjoy UAE culture.

Mr. Zidan commented: “My time at TUH provided invaluable exposure to clinical pharmacy in ICU and Pediatrics, enhancing my patient treatment insights. The PharmD 2019 cohort not only facilitated professional growth but also became a supportive circle of friends. Engaging in activities like BBQs and celebrating New Year’s in Dubai, their warm hospitality made my experience truly unforgettable.”
