A Virtual Visit by Midwestern University students to explore Pharmacy Practice in UAE through the eyes of GMU faculty, preceptors and students

On May 9, 2021, GMU College of Pharmacy conducted an online session on UAE Pharmacy Practice to Midwestern University, USA students. This online session covered an overview of healthcare regulation in the country, pharmacy practice in different sectors, and detailing of Clinical Pharmacy Services at Thumbay University hospital. Some of the Master in Clinical Pharmacy (MCP) and Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) students of GMU shared their rotation experiences.

In 2019, two groups of Midwestern University PharmD students visited GMU academic health system and a group of GMU MCP students visited Midwestern University-affiliated hospital in Chicago. In 2020 and 2021 as onsite visits could not happen, the session is planned online. Midwestern University students appreciated their opportunity to learn more about UAE Pharmacy Practice.

Vice Chancellor for Quality and Global Engagement and Dean College of Pharmacy Prof. Sherief Khalifa commented: “We are happy to see our collaboration with Midwestern University moving forward. Student exchange and faculty/preceptors sharing their expertise is a great tool in improving pharmacy education and practice.”
