Staff Development Workshop: “Scientifo-Metric Analysis”

The First Staff Development Activity for the Spring Semester 2021 was organized on March 21, 2021 at 1:00 pm. Prof. Ahmed Mohamed Al-Abd, Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology & Associate Dean-Academics, College of Pharmacy, conducted a Workshop titled “Scientifo-Metric Analysis’.

  • Ahmed discussed on the trends of searching for a research article which has been shifted from an Encyclopaedic Style of “Recognize the contribution of a single author to a particular concept” to A Cumulative research style of “Where many authors are focusing and working on one concept”.
  • The focus of discussion was on Validation which is carried out under three categories namely: Journal Analytics, Author Impact and Journal Metric of an Institution. Dr. Ahmed spent time of discussing Terminologies that helps in validation process as Impact Factor, Cite Scope and H-Index.
  • Ahmed emphasized that rankings of journals in each subject category are divided into quartiles by both JCR and SJR.
  • Selva Titus Chacko thanked Prof. Ahmed Mohamed Al-Abd on behalf of the College for sparing his precious time and sharing his valuable knowledge with the Faculty of the CON in spite his busy schedule.
