Report on RNBSN Orientation Program – 2022 Batch

On 12th September, 2022, the College of Nursing, Gulf Medical University Welcomed the freshman class of RN-BSN students and had the Orientation Program.

The Orientation program began with a video, showcasing the history and milestones of Gulf Medical University, its diverse and vibrant campus and facilities. Dr. Mary Walton led the students in an ice-breaking and self-introduction session to help them become comfortable and familiar with each other.

Prof. Selva Titus Chacko, Dean CON, welcomed the students and introduced the course faculty. She emphasized that RN-BSN program is specifically designed to upgrade the competencies and standards required for the practice of professional nursing and also briefed on the fascinating career opportunities awaiting them after completion of their Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

Dr. Soney Varghese, Program Director (RN-BSN), highlighted the various teaching and learning methodologies which will be used as well as the assessment policies and systems in place. The registration requirements were clearly explained to the students. Dr. Soma Ibrahim, Semester Coordinator, provided a detailed orientation to the courses for the 1st semester and clarified all doubts related to the Academic requirements and examinations.

Ms. Burcu Aydin, Director – Department of Students Affairs, provided an overview of the various student activities. It was followed by a session for Mr. Daies Idiculla, Chief Librarian, who oriented the students about clinical key and portals such as Lecturio to access their e-books and e-journal resources. Mr. Suraj Sebastian, E-learning Manager, explained about e-learning and the Student Management system (Moodle platform) utilized in the University.

Ms. Sija Binoy, the Lecturer, briefed the students on  Campus Etiquette. Students were given time to clarify their doubts related to any concerns they had. The program was concluded at 12.30 pm.
