“Marriott Jewel of the Creek” Award

On September 19th, 2024, the Second ENA National Chief Nursing Officers and Nursing Academic Leads Forum was held in Dubai, UAE. During the event, Gulf Medical University (GMU) was invited to present a session titled “Shaping the Future of Nursing Education at GMU: Aligning with the National Nursing & Midwifery Strategy 2022-2026.” The presentation provided an overview of the College of Nursing’s (CoN) strategic goals and initiatives, highlighting the institution’s commitment to aligning with the UAE’s National Nursing & Midwifery Strategy. Key aspects of the presentation included educational advancements, national & international collaborative efforts, and professional development initiatives aimed at fostering excellence in nursing education. The institution has implemented community outreach and engagement programs in collaboration with local healthcare institutions. Additionally, initiatives have been introduced to promote nursing among Emirati students, along with leadership training programs aimed at promoting nursing in the region.

Professor Selva Titus Chacko, Dean of the College of Nursing at Gulf Medical University, was honored with the prestigious “Marriott Jewel of the Creek” award at the Second ENA National Chief Nursing Officers and Nursing Academic Leads Forum. The award recognizes her outstanding leadership and initiatives in advancing nursing education in the UAE, particularly in aligning the College of Nursing’s programs with the UAE’s National Nursing & Midwifery Strategy.
